TOGETHER

“TOGETHER” is a mural inspired by the Women’s March on Washington.

Mural design by Lisa Marie Thalhammer, Maggie O’Neill. Nia Keturah Calhoun and painted with assistance by Ashley Jaye Williams, Zey Uruc, Diane Decosta, Wendy Sittner Mundy Spears, Mercedes, & Julianne Brienza. Installed Fall 2021 with support by Shaw Main Streets & Artbox DC and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Public Art Building Communities grant program.

“Our TOGETHER mural reclaims the U.S. Capitol Building as a symbol for democracy, equity and unity. It is a celebration of peaceful protest and illustrates the resilience of the human spirt. Ivory silhouette figures at the foreground recognize important movements of the past such as civil rights, gay liberation and women’s liberation. With a height of 50 feet the 13-color rainbow burst sky-scape is the largest rainbow wall in Washington DC. The colors celebrate diversity and symbolized the intersection of all human identities. ” - Lisa Marie
